WALLA WALLA -- Applicants are being sought for an opening on the Walla Walla County Conservation District board.
The position on the five-member board is for an appointed supervisor seat currently held by Ed Chvatal, who is seeking another three-year term.
The successful applicant will be one of two members appointed to the five-member board by the Washington State Conservation Commission. The remaining three members are elected by the citizens of the district.
Applicants must be a registered voter in Walla Walla County, must reside within the conservation district boundaries and be a landowner, an operator of a farm or occupy land in the district.
Supervisors serve without compensation. There is a monthly board meeting to attend with the possibilities of additional meetings throughout the year. Board members are expected to provide guidance, and oversee and direct district activities and projects.
The deadline to apply Feb. 10. Application forms are available at the Conservation District Office, 325 N. 13th Ave., in Walla Walla or by calling Marguerite Daltoso at 522-6340, ext. 101.
