Charlotte Cannon of Walla Walla and former longtime resident of Athena passed away Jan. 24, 2012, peacefully at her home at the age of 104 years. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the St. James Episcopal Church in Milton-Freewater. A private interment will be held at the Athena Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution in memory of Charlotte to the St. James Episcopal Church or the Athena Library in care of the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, OR 97862
Charlotte Cannon was born on May 24, 1907, the daughter of Fred and Laura (Keen) Gross in Athena. She lived in Athena her entire life and attended area schools. On May 22, 1926, she married Claud Dickenson. Claud later preceded her in death. Charlotte spent her entire life as a farmer and homemaker and was a great friend to many. On April 23, 1986, she married Granville Cannon. Granville later preceded her in death. She was a longtime member of the St. James Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her niece, Wanda Lee Williams of Peoria, Ariz.; nephew, Robert Cannon of Athena; niece, Merilee Mason of Hudson, Ohio; and nephew, Dave Harden of Beaverton, Ore.; numerous great-nieces and
great-nephews and other relatives and friends. Her parents; brother, George Gross; sister, Verva Stockstill; niece, Sharon Kay Meyersick; niece, Sylvia Harden; and nephew, Dick Harden, all preceded her in death. x
