The Brik was brimming with people Monday night.

Walla Walla's new restaurant has opened for business at 1415 Plaza Way, the former spot of Lorenzo's pizzeria.

Reminders of Lorenzo's are still at the property, including the old sign on top of the building, indicating the speedy transition into the new restaurant.

The new eatery reportedly specializes in steaks, burgers and Italian fare.

Monday's opening catered to a full house, judging by the activity in the parking lot.

The sudden closure of Wendy's last week may have been a problem of the restaurant not being up to company par.

That's the latest word on the closure of the fast-food eatery on Wilbur Avenue and other communities across the region.

Kitty Munger, Wendy's spokeswoman, reportedly told Tri-Cities television station KNDU that last week's sudden Wendy's closures in Walla Walla, Kennewick, Yakima and Pendleton were due to unmet standards.

"The restaurant was closed in part because it did not meet Wendy's operational standards," Munger told the station. "The franchisee is working with Wendy's to address these issues, which include evaluating if the store will reopen."

The franchises are owned by BZB Multi-State LLC of Whitefish, Mont. A principal in that has been identified as Zachary Dugdale, though his name has been spelled numerous ways.
