Hometown: Cardston, Alberta, Canada.
What brought you to Walla Walla: "My sister and her family worked here. When I was out of optometry school there was an opening at Shopko."
He worked there for about nine years.
Favorite memory: As a child he went camping with his family in the Canadian Rockies at Waterton Lakes National Park.
Now he takes his children camping to the same place. His children are hiking the same trails and creating memories just as he did with his family.
Favorite music performers: "I'm a big Elton John fan, old Howard Jones songs. I'm a child of the '80s."
Favorite movies: "I'm a 'Star Wars' geek. But I also like the classics, such as 'To Kill a Mockingbird,' 'Lorenzo's Oil'."
Favorite TV shows: "Growing up I watched 'Hockey Night in Canada.' Now I enjoy 'Seinfeld' and I watch 'The Office' sometimes."
Favorite books: Books by Robert Ludlum and historical accounts of Native Americans and the American west.
Favorite activities: Athletics -- basketball and volleyball.
"I love coaching my kids. This year for the first time I played ice hockey."
He also plays piano, saxophone and clarinet.
Who would you most like to talk with: "My grandpa. He passed away when I was 6. I would talk with him about his life experiences."
