WALLA WALLA -- Donald R. McQuary of Clarkston has been named to the Walla Walla Community College Board of Trustees.

McQuary was appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire to take the place of outgoing trustee Jerry Hendrickson, whose term ended this year. McQuary is the CEO of Stonebraker McQuary Agency Group of Clarkston, a family insurance firm dating to the early 1920s with additional offices in Spokane and Northern Idaho. McQuary also co-founded the winery Basalt Cellars in Clarkston in 2004.

McQuary's community outreach includes serving as president of the Tri-State Memorial Hospital Board, and as a member and past president of Valley Vision Inc., an economic development organization for the Lewis-Clark Valley. He chaired levy and bond committees for the Clarkston School District and served on the Clarkston Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

"I see Walla Walla Community College as a key player in the community," McQuary is quoted as saying in a statement when asked about serving on the board. "I believe community colleges provide one of the best educational buys for the students and taxpayers and are key players in the economic development of the communities they serve."
