MILTON-FREEWATER - Timothy Sprenger has been named the new principal of Central Middle School.

Sprenger was approved to lead the city's public middle school following a special board meeting of the Milton-Freewater School Board on Monday.

Sprenger replaces Bruce Neil, who announced his resignation effective the end of the 2011-12 school year.

Sprenger earned a bachelor's degree and a master's in educational administration from Idaho State University. He began teaching sciences in the Stanfield School District in 1999, and transitioned into administration in 2004.

Most recently, Sprenger has been the principal of Nixyaawii Community School since Dec. 2008.

Sprenger was one of four candidates that interviewed for the principal position out of a pool of 19 applicants, according to a district news release. His salary for the 2012-13 school year is $88,081.
