Marian B. Ray, 92, passed away July 1, 2012, at Washington Odd Fellows Home, 534 Boyer Ave., Walla Walla. Marian was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Walla Walla, to Lowell Oakley and Coral Gladys Richmond Taylor. She attended Sharpstein Elementary School, graduated from Walla Walla High School, attended Whitman College for one year, and received her R.N. from Portland Nursing School, working as school nurse for the Walla Walla School District.
She enjoyed making Teddy bears and had traveled extensively worldwide. She volunteered at Providence St. Mary Medical Center for 25 years and was a member of the Retired Teachers' Association.
Marian is survived by her niece, Sharon (Myron) Manley of Walla Walla; five nephews, Skip (Linda) Davenport of Dayton, Brian (Kevin) Davenport and Dana (Rick) Davenport both of Seattle, Dennis (Kari) Davenport of Spokane Valley, and Greg (Carla) Davenport of Seattle; 20 grandnieces and grandnephews, including Melanie Manley who was one of her caregivers; and numerous great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Meryl Taylor Davenport; and one nephew, Michael Davenport.
There will be private inurnment at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Retired Teachers' Association through Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
