Road work under way in College Place

The work is expected to wrap up around Labor Day, officials say.

COLLEGE PLACE -- A road maintenance project on two of the city's main streets is now under way, city Public Works Director Paul Hartwig said.

The project will stretch along Southeast Larch Avenue from Lamperti Street to Southeast Fourth Street, then along Southeast Fourth Street to Southwest Davis Avenue. The work is expected to continue until around the first of September.

Workers will grind the asphalt surface along the roadways and replace it with new asphalt. They will also rebuild a portion of Larch Avenue from Fourth Street to Lions Park and remove and replace sections of the sidewalks at intersections to improve access for pedestrians.

The city of College Place has contracted with Humbert Asphalt to perform the work, Hartwig said. Residents should expect street closures at different times but the streets should be open to traffic at the end of the day.

If there are any questions, people may call the Public Works Department at 525-0510.
