LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Effinger apologizes, seeks forgiveness for killing

Back in September 2011 I was involved in an altercation that unfortunately resulted in me taking the life of Audrey Brewer. I wanted to contact the Brewer family but I was informed by my lawyer, James Barrett, and by the Department of Corrections that I cannot have any contact with the Brewer family.

I would like to say how sorry I am for taking Audrey away from them. The night of the altercation, I was intoxicated. The person that night is not the person I am.

I didn't mean to hurt her. I am truly sorry for taking Audrey away from her parents and family.

I will forever be punished, for her face is burned in my mind. Not a day goes by that I don't think about Audrey. I wish I could go back and undo what I did. I wish I could take away the pain I caused the Brewer family.

I pray for them every day and I hope they can find it in their hearts to forgive me.

Angela Effinger
