CENTRALIA, Wash. - The Walla Walla Xplosion '00 girls 12-and-under fastpitch softball team finished fourth in the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) State Tournament held here over the weekend. The Xplosion competed in the 12U "A" division and concluded play with a 4-2 tournament record.
On Friday, the Xplosion opened play with an 11-3 run-rule victory over the Woodinville Reign. They then concluded Friday play with a 10-5 win over the Vancouver Stealers.
On Saturday, the Xplosion beat the Pacific Northwest Force, 7-0, before falling to the Washington Speed, 11-6. This loss dropped the Xplosion into the loser's bracket to begin the day on Sunday.
The Xplosion opened Sunday play with a win over the Washington Force '99, out of the Tri-Cities, 5-4. The Xplosion then advanced to play the Blaze Intensity in a loser-out contest and fell, 14-10.
The Xplosion, in their first season at the 12U level, now have claimed a third-place finish in the NSA State Tournament and a fourth-place finish in the ASA State Tournament.
Xplosion '00 players are Kamryn Coleman, Lauren Hoe, Faith Hoe, Teisha Payne, Maddy Thomas, Bow Maiden, Alison Skurski, Emma Case, Raeleigh Hendricks, Madison Hooper and Meghan Yenney. Coaches are Andy Coleman, Kaela Hoe and Brett Thomas.
The Xplosion '00 are now 47-18-1 on the season and conclude their season at the ASA regional tournament on July 20-22 in Portland.
