Laurel Ann Knox
March 20, 1948 - July 7, 2012
Laurel Anne Knox, 64, of Othello, died Saturday July 7, 2012, at her home surrounded by the things she loved.
Laurel was born March 20, 1948, to Albert C. and Clara C (Meeks) Woiblet in Walla Walla. She attended school in Walla Walla, graduating from Walla Walla High School and going on to earn her B.A. degree in education from Washington State University. After she graduated Laurel accepted a job in Othello where she taught fifth grade at Scootney Springs elementary. While at Scootney Spring she met a fellow teacher Keith Knox. They were married on Dec. 5, 1970, in Walla Walla. Laurel moved to Hiawatha Elementary where she taught third grade. Laurel and her family moved to the Tri-Cities in 1974 then returned to Othello in 1981. From 1981 until she retired Laurel had a long successful career as a substitute teacher in the Columbia Basin area.
Laurel enjoyed her travels; the first trip she took with her parents was to Europe to visit the city in Switzerland that was home for her grandfather. She returned to Europe on her honeymoon with Keith. She loved animals especially cats.
Laurel was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Keith "Chip;" and her granddaughter Willa Rose Wegner. She is survived by her husband Keith Sr. a daughter Brandee (Rob) Wegner, a sister Cami (Rick) Barrett and a brother Steve (Kathy) Woiblet, her grandchildren; Chris, Kaity and JT Wegner as well as many of her four-legged friends.
A celebration of Laurel's life will be held Friday July 13, at 11 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Chapel. Laurel will be laid to rest next to her son, Chip, at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens. To sign the guest book, leave a note for the family or order flowers visit stevensfuneralchapel.com
