Walla Walla A number of opportunities to watch the dancers from the Walla Walla Summer Dance Festival and the Summer Dance Lab can be had this summer.
The organizers have scheduled demonstrations and a class, as well as free rehearsals, all leading to the culminating Grand Festival Performance.
On July 21 at 1 p.m. a hip hop dance class will be held at the YMCA for youths age 12-18. It will be taught by Sean Scantlebury of the Summer Dance Lab faculty.
At 3 p.m. Summer Dance Lab director John Pasafiume and Lydia Tetzlaff will give a dance demonstration and lecture at Walla Faces, 216 E. Main St.
Professional dancers will be working with the students from the lab in an open rehearsal at 7 p.m. July 23 in Harper Joy Theatre. Admission is free.
As part of the public library's Terrific Tuesday program, members of the Oregon Ballet Theatre will perform 2 p.m. July 24 at Cordiner Hall, 46 S. Park St. Admission is free.
At 7 p.m. there will be an open rehearsal at Cordiner Hall that will be free and open to the public.
A hip hop dance group from Los Angeles, Nobility Mob, will give a free performance at 5 p.m. July 26 at Land Title Plaza, First Avenue and Main Street.
The Grand Festival Performance of the Walla Walla Summer Dance Festival, will be 7 p.m. July 27 at Cordiner Hall.
The Grand Festival Performance will feature dancers from the Oregon Ballet Theatre, hip-hop by Nobility Mob and the John Passafiume Dancers of New York City.
The John Passafiume Dancers will present a modern contemporary dance piece made by Passafiume and set to the third movement of Beethoven's "String Quartet in A Minor, Op. 132."
Tickets for the final performance for adults are $20; students and seniors 65 and older, $10; and $50 for a family of two adults plus children.
