Milton-Freewater Municipal to be open for public play Saturday

MILTON-FREEWATER - Due to a lower-than-expected turnout for the annual Kiwanis Klassic, the Milton-Freewater Municipal Golf Course will be open to non-tournament play on graduated tee times throughout the day Saturday.

"We've only got 14 teams signed up so far," M-F pro George Gillette said of the two-player scramble format event. "I'm still hoping we will get as many as 20 teams, but even at that we will be keeping the course open to non-tournament play throughout the day."

Originally, the course was going to be restricted to tournament play until 1 p.m., Gillette noted.

Anyone interested in signing up for the Kiwanis Klassic can do so until today's 8 p.m. entry deadline by calling the pro shop at 541-938-7284.
