WALLA WALLA - The local lemonade stand concieved by juvenile arthritis sufferer as a fundraiser last year will be up and running again.
Allison Wanichek and her friends' enterprise last year raised $3,000 for the Arthritis Foundation in three hours and generated a ton of awareness that "kids get arthritis, too," her mother Staci Wanichek said in a release.
This year the 11-year-old and her younger brother, Jack, will operate the Lemonade Stand from noon-3 p.m. July 26 at Walla Walla Builders Supply, 607 W. Tietan St.
Since blue is the color for arthritis - July is Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month - there will be blue lemonade this year, as well as several blue goodies and popcorn.
Allison and her brother are also busy designing a new event logo, which will be used on T-shirts, posters, signage, invitations and thank you notes.
For more details contact Staci Wanichek at staci@my180.net or 509-520-7187.
About 294,000 children younger than 18 are affected by pediatric arthritis and rheumatologic conditions, according to the Arthritis Foundation.
