Ella Marie Bryant, 94, passed away July 8, 2012, in Covington, Wash., with family by her side. She was a longtime resident of Walla Walla until moving 10 years ago to Covington with her daughter and son-in-law.
Ella Marie was born Oct. 28, 1917, in Walla Walla to Ray and Bessie Pershall. She had four brothers and one sister. Ella attended Berney Elementary and Walla Walla High School. On May 21, 1939, she married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, David Bryant.
Ella worked at the Liberty Theater, where she developed a love for the silver screen and celebrities. Her husband, Dave, served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was sent overseas six weeks before she gave birth to their first child, Donna. Ella faithfully wrote Dave a letter every day he was gone. After the war, Ella and Dave welcomed their second daughter, Peggy.
Ella spent the rest of her adult life working in retail, first at Newberry's and later JC Penney's. Ella loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with David and adventures with her daughter and husband including Hawaii, Arizona, Canada, and numerous trips to the Oregon coast where she loved to watch the waves and visit her daughter, Peggy. She received great joy from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ella Marie is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and her husband of 56 years, David Bryant. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Marvin Morasch of Covington, Wash., and Peggy and Joe Dilworth of Lincoln City, Ore.; one sister, Maxine Cline; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 28, at 11:30 a.m. in the Elks Rest section of Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 S. Second Ave.
