WALLA WALLA -- Northwest blues band Junkyard Jane plays at 9 tonight at Sapolil Cellars, 15 E. Main St. The band includes vocalist and percussionist Leanne Trevalyan, vocalist and guitarist Billy Stoops, bassist Barbra Blue and drummer Chris Leighton.
The band coined the term "swampabilly" as their defining genre to describe their sound, which is a gumbo of Americana, blues, country, folk, funk, rock and swampy New Orleans-influenced music written by songwriters Trevalyan and Stoops. The cover charge is $8.
On July 27, Blues musicians Son Jack Jr. and The Delta Hothouse will play 9 p.m. to midnight.
The group is known for playing gritty, earthy traditional Delta and Hill Country blues. The band's recent Washington Blues Society awards include the best traditional blues band three years running, best solo/duo act and most recently, best acoustic blues guitar.
The band is made up of Son Jack Jr. on guitar and vocals, Michael Wilde on harp and vocals, Billy Barner on drums and Mark Davies playing bass.
