Snakes alive! 'Reptile Guy' to visit Milton-Freewater Library

— Corbin Maxey, "The Reptile Guy," will bring a few snakes, lizards and other critters to the Milton-Freewater Public Library's Summer Reading Program at 6 p.m. July 24.

Because of the popularity of Maxey's presentations, the program will be held at the Community Building on Northwest Fifth Avenue, instead of taking place at the library.

Maxey, 22, has appeared on Jay Leno's "Tonight," "Oprah Winfrey" and "Today" shows.

He began his career when he was a a teenager. At age 14 he founded Cyprus Hill Reptile Reserve, a nonprofit organization located in Meridian, Idaho.

The reserve is dedicated to reptile rescue, conservation, and education.

He has gone on to have his own television show "The Reptile Guy."

Maxey has worked with animals at SeaWorld Orlando, San Diego, San Antonio, and Busch Gardens Africa.

Maxey also attended Boise State University, earning a degree in biology.

His program is suitable for all ages, and admission is free.

The Milton-Freewater Library's summer reading program continues through July 27, with weekly activities for four age groups, from preschool through high school.
