THE DALLES - The Walla Walla Bears pummeled the Columbia Gorge Hustlers, 9-3 and 18-5, in their last road games of the summer. The Bears (31-10-1) will play again today to conclude its season at 1 p.m. in a twin bill versus the Lewiston-Clarkston Twins at the Walla Walla Community College field.
"We did a really good job of working the count and hitting the fastball hard today," Bears coach Brian Kitamura said.
Jake Campeau led the charge with three hits, including a 3-RBI homer in the first game.
Connor Lawhead pitched all of game one and had five hits at the plate in the doubleheader.
Kalani Omoto and Spencer Cordeiro combined to pitch well in game two, giving up 11 hits but surrendering only five runs on the game.
"All three of our pitchers did well by commanding the strike zone and mixing it up with the changeup," Kitamura said. "Lawhead and Omoto both did a good job of setting the tone for the game out on the mound. Cordeiro was lights out in relief of Omoto and really threw his off speed pitch well."
