Ryan Baumgart finishes tied for 18th at WJGA tourney

KENT, Wash. - Walla Walla golfer Ryan Baumgart finished the Washington Junior Golf Association state tournament tied for 18th in the boys' 16-17 division Saturday after carding an 80 on the final round of a three-day tournament at Meridian Valley Country Club.

Baumgart, who has won consecutive WIAA Class 2B state championships golfing with DeSales, was the only one of four Walla Walla golfers to make the cut for the final round of the tournament. He finished the tournament 79-75-80 - 234.

"The cut was the highest it has been in a long time," Baumgart said. "The courses we played were pretty tough, but the weather was great."

Other Walla Walla golfers who attended the tournament but did not make the cut were: Scott Kimball, Shea Kimball and Emily Baumgart.
