LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Wolfram will look out for our community

For the 10 years I lived in Walla Walla, Scott Wolfram was my neighbor and remains my friend. I continue to work in town and every day I drive past numerous political signs for the race to fill the seat of Superior Court judge.

It appears there are two qualified candidates and an honest-to-goodness race. That's always good for the community.

Something troubles me, however, and that is the slogan of Scott's opponent proclaiming that the candidate is for a safer community. That seems a bit -- for how would any judge be against a safer community?

Isn't that like a physician claiming that she is for a healthier community or a teacher feeling the need to advertise he's for a better education for our children? Scott offers no empty slogans, and even if I didn't know him that would make him my choice: Straightforward, no nonsense, highly qualified, dignified.

But I do know Scott well and he has earned my trust and respect like few others. He lives the upstanding life we wish for our children, one filled with service, integrity, hard work, compassion and good sense.

Scott Wolfram is precisely the person we need on the bench looking out for our community.
