Four glass-recycling stations to stay open

WALLA WALLA - Local glass recycling will continue at four collections sites around town, but Walla Walla Recycling will no longer collect the material.

In recent months, members of the city's Sustainability Committee have debated ending the glass recycling program.

Committee members said they found that recycling glass is costly with no sustainable market, and it is a relatively stable material that does not release toxins.

People who want to recycle glass will have to drop it off at collection bins located at both city fire stations - 200 S. 12th Ave. and 170 N. Wilbur St. - at Sudbury Landfill or at the City Service Center on Moore Street.
