Walla Walla - Dorothy Frances Scott, 102, passed to her rest on May 31, 2012, at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center, 1710 Plaza Way, Walla Walla, Washington.
Dorothy was born January 2, 1910, in Lindsay, California, to Mervin Eugene and Ora Jeanette (Soper) Askin. She and R. Jack- son Scott were married for 22 years. Doro- thy was a graduate of Redlands University, Redlands, California; she was an elementary school teacher for 30 years until she retired
in 1978. She had been a volunteer for the Kern County Medical Center in Bakersfield and served as President of their Auxiliary for several years. She also served as choir director for her church, and was the National NW Director for the American Ex Prisoners of War, traveling the U.S. at her own expense to help the POWs of our nation. After moving to this area in 2002 from the Bakers- field-Murrieta, California area, she was given the honor of being Mother of the Year in Walla Walla by the Chamber of Commerce in 2009. She has been a blessing more than words can say to her family and friends.
She was a member of American Ex-Prisoners of War, Vet- erans of Foreign Wars, Fraternal Order of Eagles and California Retired Teachers Association.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Judith Robinson of Walla Walla; seven grandchildren: Shannon Brown of Portland, Oregon; Kellee Krause of Murrietta, California; Stewart Robin- son of San Jacinto, California; Joe, Treasure, Damon and Darrin DeLaOssa; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchil- dren and three nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Ora Askin; her husband, R. Jackson Scott; two daughters: Bette DeLaOssa and Norma Goodrich; granddaughter, Tami Robinson, and great-grandson, Cameron Robinson.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2012, at the V.F.W., 102 N. Colville Street, Walla Walla. Pastor Ryan Krause will officiate.
Inurnment will take place on June 22, 2012, at Hillcrest Me- morial Park in Bakersfield, California. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
