WALLA WALLA - The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for tonight and tomorrow for portions of Oregon and Southeast Washington, including Walla Walla.
According to the weather service, rain is forecast to increase across the region tonight with amounts of one-half inch to an inch possible across the Blue Mountains and Wallowa County.
Rains are expected to continue Tuesday with amounts of a quarter-inch possible.
The heavy rains are expected to cause creeks and streams to rise quickly and could cause minor flooding. Most of the larger rivers have room for the increased runoff, but the Grande Ronde River in Wallowa County could see water levels rise to within one-half foot of flood stage.
According to the weather service, the high water levels will continue through Tuesday night before receding.
