Claudia Huntley departed this life for the next on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at 5:27 p.m. She passed away peacefully, gracefully and beautifully in the warmth and comfort of her own home, surrounded by her husband, kids and grandkids.

There will be a private family graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery. Claudia was born in Walla Walla to Barbara (Markham) and LeRoy Bastron on Feb. 27, 1949, and attended Paine Elementary, Garrison Junior High and Walla Walla High School. As a teen, she worked at her mom's gift shop and Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio. After graduating from Wa-Hi in 1967, Claudia earned an associate degree from Walla Walla Community College and worked for Economy Cleaners and later for Baker Boyer Bank. She ran a day-care in her home in Yakima, and after returning to Walla Walla in 1992, was a friendly face in the business office of the Walla Walla Clinic and finally as a receptionist for Dr. Phil Morgan.

In 1984, Claudia and Dan were called into full-time pastoral service at West Valley Church of the Nazarene in Yakima, and spent the next 26 years in full-time Christian ministry together in churches in Yakima; Redding, Calif.; Boise; Antioch, Calif.; and Walla Walla. Dan retired from vocational ministry in 2010 to provide full-time care for Claudia.

Claudia is survived by her high school sweetheart, best friend and devoted husband of 43 years, Dan Huntley II. Claudia and Dan were blessed with three children - Jason, Heather and Katey - who in turn have blessed them with six grandchildren: Jackson, Alyvia, Jaela, Spencer, Alijah and Sophia.

While an only child, she considered the Huntley family her own, and is survived by her mother-and father-in-Law, Dan and Dorothy Huntley; brothers-in-law R.D. and Darrel Huntley, and sister-in-law Tammy Axton. There are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, both near and far, that were a special part of Claudia's life.

Claudia's passing marked the end of a 63-year journey of steadfast love and devotion to Jesus Christ, and her family, friends and community. While the past six years were shaped by early-onset Alzheimer's disease, Claudia remained a constant source of love, strength, joy, courage and inspiration to all those around her, even in her last quiet breath and glowing, angelic presence thereafter. A hometown girl, fully-devoted Christian, incredible wife, mom, grandma and friend, departing this life with the full assurance of life everlasting and treasures in heaven … it doesn't get any better than that!
