Janice "Jan" Lee Young
November 23, 1937 - April 30, 2012

Long time Walla Walla resident Jan Young, 74, died April 30, 2012, at her son's
home in Juneau, Alaska, following a battle with cancer. There will be no service at
the family's request. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alaskan Mortuary
in Juneau Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla
Walla, WA 99362.

Janice was born November 23, 1937, in Pullman,
WA, to Robert L. and Margaret W. (Oetter) Hilliard. She
attended schools in Walla Walla and graduated from Walla
Walla High School. She attended Washington College (now
Washington State University). On November 5, 1962, she
married Raymond E. Young in Lewiston, Idaho. Jan had
a variety of customer service jobs during her life, one of
which was working at Louisiana Pacific. Jan was a loving
wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She
truly never met a stranger. She inspired her family with her
kindness, her love and her gentile and generous spirit.

Jan is survived by one daughter, Sherry Young of Bellingham, WA; two sons, Bryon Young of Juneau, AK,
Scott Young of Redondo Beach, CA; one brother, Rick Hilliard of California; one foster brother, Kenny Burkhardt
of Milton-Freewater, OR; nine grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray in 2005, three brothers, Robert, Gary, Jim, and one sister
Charlene Hilliard.
