Wait until you see it from the air

About eight members of the Mid-Columbia Ninety-Nines international women's flying association and their friends and family volunteered Saturday to paint "Walla Walla Airport" near the runway at the regional airport. The entire stretch of 17 letters, each 20 feet tall, came to 273 feet in length and was the longest tarmac painting for the group to date. Sunnyside Airport had the record. Last year the group painted letters at Martin Field in College Place. The shortest for the group was Omak Airport.
