LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Let's ask leaders to lead

We blindly assume we are being governed by our president and Congress (Senate and House), but are we really?

We are being led down the path by Congress' 200 committees plus subcommittees. Try to get that many people to agree to unify for the betterment of their country and citizens. They almost need to watch out for their own positions, therefore prolong debates, for if they agree quickly and unanimously their job would be finished. No more good ol' boys, back slapping and lobbyists. Let's ask that our leaders lead.

And we need the many committees and subcommittees to stop spending us into a black hole with billions into foreign aid to so many countries, perpetuating wars in countries that have fought among themselves for centuries. Some may say, "But we must watch out for oil interest!" If we weren't always "involving ourselves" in their affairs we could be buying fuel peacefully.

Bring our forces and money home.

Why do we have wars then rebuild their infrastructures while ours decay? Stop spoiling the banks via Freddie and Fannie and having big banking big-wigs sitting on the Federal Reserve Board. Dismantle Fannie and Freddie to redirect into a works program for the unemployed and veterans coming home to create jobs and rebuild infrastructures.
