ATHENA -- Hodaka Days, a celebration of Hodaka motorcycles, starts Thursday and runs through Sunday.
Kicking off the celebration is a poker run from 2-4 p.m. Thursday. This year, all vintage bikes, not just Hodakas, up to 250cc may compete.
Friday the Bad Rock Reunion trail ride starts at 9 a.m. from Weston. The ride is a 40-mile course, designed to be easy enough for someone who has not been riding regularly. Riders must register before the ride.
Also on Friday, the swap meet starts at noon and runs through Saturday. There is an ice cream social Friday, starting at 7:30 p.m.
The Main Street parade is 9 a.m. Saturday, with the bike show starting at 10:30 a.m. Observed trials will take place at 1 p.m. and at 8 p.m.
The world premier showing of the digitally re-mastered film "Bad Rock" will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Long Branch Saloon in Weston, for those age 21 and older. A question-and-answer session with filmmaker Peter Starr and people featured in the film will follow.
There will be a raffle of a rebuilt 1973 model 95 Combat Wombat motorcycle to benefit Athena's historic Gem Theater.
Sunday has motocross racing from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Other weekend activities include the American Legion pancake breakfast, 6-10 a.m. Saturday. Free health screenings provided by the Athena-Weston Lions Club will be available from its mobile unit on Main Street, and the Athena Cancer Walk starts 8 a.m. at City Park. It is a 5k or 7k walk or run fundraiser for the patient special needs fund at Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center.
