Five Wa-Hi players named to Louisville Slugger teams


STARKVILLE, Miss. - Wa-Hi had five softball players named to 2012 Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-Region teams.

Blue Devil outfielder TraeAnn Payne was named to the West Region first team, with pitcher Alyson Ambler, second baseman Jordi Storm and Andrea Hamada and Libbie Jimenez, in at-large positions, named to the second team.

This year, 159 student-athletes from 92 high schools spanning 28 states earned the honor of being named to one of 10 2012 Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-Region teams.

The Blue Devils finished the season 26-2 and fell just short of the WIAA Class 4A state title, losing to undefeated Woodinville in the finals.

All players who were selected to one of the five first teams in their respective region are now eligible to be named as either a 2012 NFCA First-Team, Second-Team or Honorable Mention High School All-American.
