MISSION, Ore. - The playing conditions were anything but pleasant on Saturday as the home team tied for second in the men's Whitman College Spring Three-Way golf match at Wildhorse Golf Course.
With cold winds blowing at a steady 30 to 40 miles per hour with higher gusts, Lewis-Clark State finished first in the team scoring with a 305 total for its top four golfers.
Host Whitman and College of Idaho tied for second with 331 totals.
Lewis-Clark State's Kyler Gable took medalist honors with a 74.
Scott Martin paced Whitman with a 79, while Geoff Burks and Jonathan Standen both carded 82.
Andrew Welch completed the team score with an 88.
Cheney Doane and Nathan Fisher both shot 89.
Peter Clark and Drew Raher, who recently re-joined the golf roster after completion of their varsity basketball season, also played for Whitman, although their scores were not designated as possible contributors to the Missionary team total.
Clark shot an 85 while Raher finished with an 87.
The next competition for the Whitman men is the St. Paddy's Day Invitational March 17-18 in Beaumont, Calif.
