WALLA WALLA -- Summertime bus fares will be revisited during Valley Transit's monthly board meeting Thursday.
Officials with the public transit agency are considering lifting fares this summer to help build awareness and ridership. The hope is that once the fares return, passenger numbers will increase. The practice has been a success in the past.
A decision on the fares was tabled during the board meeting in February. An update on the project will be presented Thursday during the 7:05 p.m. meeting at the Valley Transit board room, 1401 W. Rose St.
Valley Transit General Manager Dick Fondahn said via email a full presentation on the agency's fares will likely be ready for the April meeting rather than Thursday's.
Also on the agenda: Staff will recommend the board approve a contract renewal with the Walla Walla Valley Farmers Market Association for use of the transfer center building on market days.
