WALLA WALLA -- Area residents interested in composting with worms, or vermicomposting, can take part in a workshop April 7 at Whitman College.
The workshop will run 1-2:30 p.m. on the side lawn of Reid Campus Center on Boyer Avenue. A $15 fee covers the cost of taking home 250 worms. Participants will need to bring two 60-quart storage bins that fit inside one another; a small handful of soil; and a pair of gloves, a trowel, and electric drill if possible.
Coordinators will provide shredded paper and fresh food waste to start the compost; trowels and electric drills; and information on how to keep the compost system and worms thriving once home.
