WALLA WALLA -- The American Cancer Society will celebrate the first anniversary of its Cancer Resource Center at Providence St. Mary Medical Center on March 29.
The event will be in the hospital's regional cancer center, 5-7 p.m., and is open to the public.
The celebration will feature traditional birthday refreshments and music, and will be an opportunity for people to tour the center and learn what programs, services and resources are available to cancer patients and the community, officials said.
In the past year, volunteers have helped more than 300 patients, their families and caregivers get through their cancer ordeals.
At the center, volunteers offer information regarding cancer diagnoses, types of treatment, community programs, ongoing cancer research and dates and times for local American Cancer Society programs.
