K-9 demonstration shows toughness and tenderness

In a recent public meeting and demonstration organized by the Walla Walla Sheriff's Foundation, a discussion was held on the need for a K-9 unit in Walla Walla County. After a presentation by a Kennewick police officer and a dog training expert, a short 'perpetrator" demonstration was performed for the audience.

Within moments of the dog 'calming down," the crowd was encouraged to meet the German shepherd. Sgt. Jim Romine of the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office gave a brief history of the K-9 program in Walla Walla County. Romine said it started quite similar to this meeting in 1983. Walla Walla County has not had a K-9 program since 2009.
