KENNEWICK - Wa-Hi picked up a pair of baseball victories Thursday, beating host Southridge 7-4 and 7-2 two to improve the Blue Devils' record to 5-0 on the season.

Center fielder Moe Handcox had four hits in the sweep, while infielder Josh Eggers had five RBIs on a double and a triple.

"I can't remember a time where we have swept Southridge, especially on the road," Wa-Hi coach Keith Gradwohl said. "We are very pleased with our start to the 2012 campaign."

After neither team found the score column through two innings to start the first game, Wa-Hi exploded for four runs in the top of the third.

Cody Furstenberg started the run with a lead-off single, which was highlighted by a two-run triple from Eggers and a double from catcher Taylor Lemke.

Neither team scored again until the fifth, when Southridge shelled Wa-Hi reliever Jarrod Needham for five runs to take a 5-4 lead.

The Blue Devils responded with a run in the sixth, when Furstenberg picked up a base on balls with the bases loaded and forced in a run.

Spencer Locati hit a one-out, two-run single in the top of the seventh to pick up the game-winning runs.

Pitcher Will Parnicky picked up the win with two scoreless innings in relief.

In the nightcap, the Blue Devils got runs in the first and fourth innings to build a 2-0 lead before scoring five more runs in the sixth to go up 7-0.

Furstenburg hit a two-run single with the bases loaded and Eggers capped the fifth-inning rally with a two-run double.

Blue Devil pitcher Adam Mathews picked up the win with five scoreless innings before giving up a pair of runs in the sixth - the only Suns runs in the game - and had four strikeouts to just one walk in the stint. Blue Devil Locati struck out his side in the seventh in reief.

"Adam Mathews continues to impress on the hill with his game two performance," Gradwohl said. "Cody Furstenberg is one of our hottest hitters. He started the season with a five-game hitting streak and collected eight hits in the process."

The Blue Devils host Kennewick Tuesday at 2 p.m.
