WALLA WALLA -- Applicants are being sought to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Walla Walla County Planning Commission.
There will be an opening on the commission because Mark Wagoner, who was first appointed in November 2001, has advised county commissioners he does not with to be appointed to another term. His current term will end in April.
Applications will be accepted from residents living in any area of the county. Information for applicants, an application form and a questionnaire to be completed as part of the application process are available on the county website.
Interested people can also contact the county commissioners' office at 524-2505 or by coming to the county Public Health and Legislative Building, 314 W. Main St., in Walla Walla.
Greg Tompkins, county commission chairman, said Wagoner's presence on the Planning Commission will be missed.
"The county is very sorry to lose Mark's wealth of experience and knowledge on the Planning Commission. Through his tenure he participated in the process to update the county's Comprehensive Plan, went through the change to a Walla Walla Joint Community Development Agency and was part of many important and at times contentious land use decisions and amendments to our county code," Tompkins said in a release.
"We want to thank him for his dedication and staying power in this vital part of county business. Mark gave so much time and effort to help Walla Walla County and its citizens, and we really appreciate it."
