WALLA WALLA - The Blue Devils smashed the Kennewick Lions, 6-1, in boys' tennis here Saturday in Columbia Basin Big Nine Conference action.
"The Blue Devils ‘grabbed the Lions by the tail' today and swept all three doubles and three of the four singles matches for a 6-1 win," Wa-Hi coach Ted Cummings said in an e-mail. "It is pretty satisfying to see such good play in the first month of the season, so I'm pretty proud of the boys at this point."
Wa-Hi's Drew Swenson is currently 6-0 on the season and Zack Anderson is also undefeated at 3-0 so far.
"We certainly have some areas to work and improve on, but they are doing so many things the right way," Cummings said. "They are letting the points develop, playing with consistency, capturing play at the net and controlling overheads."
