WALLA WALLA - DeSales got two complete game pitching performances here in opening Southeast 2B baseball action Saturday.
Logan Hoeft went all the way and outdueled Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia's Will Dedic as the Irish posted a 4-1 win in the opener.
The Irish bats took over in the nightcap. DeSales pounded out nine hits and, behind freshman Cameron Richman's two-hitter, defeated T-O-R, 12-0.
"In the first game, both guys (Dedic and Hoeft) threw well," Irish coach Kim Cox said. "Logan had a pretty good outing with 13 strikeouts."
Spencer Cordeiro led the Irish at the plate with a RBI double in the first, and a RBI single in the Irish fifth.
The second game belonged to Richman. Richman struck out eight in pitching the shut out and helped himself at the plate with two triples that drove in four Irish runs.
"Cameron had a nice outing," Cox said. "His 80 games with the Black Sox has him a little ahead."
Cordeiro drew praise from Cox for several nice defensive plays at third base as the Irish defense only made three errors on the day.
Cordeiro, Hoeft, and Adam Eskil each added run-producing hits in the second game win.
DeSales moves to 2-0 in league and 3-0 on the season. The Irish host Mac-Hi Wednesday at 4 p.m.
