Indians fall to Colton despite stout pitching

TOUCHET - Stout starting pitching but poor defense spelled trouble for the Touchet Indians against the Colton Wildcats in a Southeast 1B baseball doubleheader Saturday; they lost 3-0 and 3-1.

The Indians' Cori Ochoa and Nate Ortiz pitched complete games, giving up only one earned run apiece. Touchet made four errors in the twin bill and gave up four unearned runs.

In game one, Ortiz walked two and struck out three. Game two saw Ochoa strike out six and walk three.

Eric Hines had three hits in the two games for Touchet.

The Wildcats' Josh Straughan struck out nine in seven innings and Jake Straughan had a shutout in his start.

Touchet (0-3, 0-2 SE1B) is back in action at Liberty Christian Tuesday at 4 p.m.
