WALLA WALLA - The Blue Devils girls tennis team suffered a 4-3 setback against the Kennewick Lions here Saturday.
"We got some really good performances out of all the girls today," Wa-Hi coach Keven Peck said. "The scores of the matches we lost don't tell an accurate story. Most of the games in each set went to deuce. Now it is just an issue of finding a way to win those close games and put them together to win the set."
In No. 1 doubles, Claire Konen and Rachel Schueller are new partners and played well together, Peck said. In No. 2 doubles, Chantel Desjarlais and Allison Mehn were also a new tandem.
"I couldn't ask for a better effort from the girls," Peck said, "They work hard every day to get better and they battle hard to the last point in every match. With that type of work ethic, winning will take care of itself."
