Walla Walla University splits with Idaho softball club team

The Wolves host Eastern Oregon at 3 p.m. today after splitting with the Vandals Sunday.


COLLEGE PLACE - Walla Walla University slugged its way to a softball split with the University of Idaho club team here Sunday.

The Wolves were outhit 18-14 in an opening 12-8 loss to the Vandals, but then smacked 10 more hits than Idaho in a 15-4, five-inning victory in the nightcap.

Walla Walla jumped out to a 6-3 lead after three innings in the opener, but the Vandals plated four runs apiece in the fourth and sixth innings to take the lead and victory.

The Wolves also got on the board early in the nightcap, scoring four first-inning runs and five in the second. Walla Walla wound up with 16 hits in the shortened game.

Walla Walla next hosts Eastern Oregon University at 3 p.m. today.
