Preciado pitches Touchet to baseball win over Patriots

Octavio Preciado records a complete-game shutout as the Indians win over 2B foe Liberty Christian, 6-0.

KENNEWICK - Octavio Preciado pitched a complete-game shutout and Touchet's offense showed signs of life as the Indians picked up their first victory of the season, 6-0, against Southeast Class 2B foe Liberty Christian Tuesday.

Jose Martinez led the Indian bats with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, including a double and three RBIs.

"I was really pleased with the eight hits we got, so hopefully we can continue to improve with our offense," Touchet coach Wayne Dickey said.

Preciado was efficient in the complete-game win.

He threw six strikeouts and allowed only one base-on-balls.

He ended up with a pitch count in the 70s, Dickey said.

But despite the complete-game shutout, Dickey said Preciado is still competing for a spot in the Indians' starting lineup.

"He's kind of competing to be one of our starting pitchers in our doubleheaders, so it was a good outing for him," Dickey said.

The Indians (1-3) were scheduled to host Garfield-Palouse for a Southeast 1B league doubleheader Friday, but that game has been canceled.

Touchet next hosts Weston-McEwen's TigerScots at 4 p.m. on April 9.
