Ira LeeRoy Adams, Milton-Freewater, passed away March 26, 2012, at the Stateline Retirement Center in Milton-Freewater at the age of 73 years. At his request there will be no funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Kidney Fund through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St., Milton-Freewater, OR 97862.

Mr. Adams was born Jan. 14, 1939, in Heppner, Ore., the son of George C. and Jaunieta J. Kirk Adams. He moved with his family to Milton-Freewater at about 5 years old. At about the age of 15 years, he went to work with his father shearing sheep. In his late teens, he lived in Idaho. In the late 1960s he moved back to Milton-Freewater.

On March 16, 1970, he married Isabel J. Culver in Longview, Washington. He worked at various jobs including gas stations and as a mechanic on area farms. Mr. Adams retired in 1984 due to ill health. He enjoyed fishing, camping and going to the Oregon Coast.

He is survived by his wife, Isabel J. Adams, at the home; daughters and their companions, Annie Adams and Wanda Corpuz of Las Vegas, Nev., Christine and Everett Poulignot of Filer, Idaho, Brenda and Bill Whiteley of Buhl, Idaho; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Shawna Adams of Jerome, Ida.; good friend, Valerie Tollefson of Milton-Freewater; 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Erwins Adams; and a great-grandchild, Edmundo.
