Police find shell casings after report of shots fired on Sixth

WALLA WALLA -- Walla Walla police discovered spent shell casings from a semiautomatic pistol in the 700 block of North Sixth Avenue after area residents reported hearing multiple gunshots late Wednesday night.

Police received the reports just after 11 p.m., and one witness reported she heard a car driving past, then gunshots, according to Officer Tim Bennett, department spokesman.

"There was no obvious target," Bennett said. "There were no injuries, and no damage located last night. For all we know they drove past and fired into the air."

The case is under investigation by the Special Teams Unit, according to Bennett.
