WALLA WALLA - Wa-Hi's boys tennis team dodged the rain and Pasco's Bulldogs in a 7-0 Big Nine rout.
"The Blue Devils overwhelmed the Bulldogs today by sweeping all seven matches decisively," Wa-Hi coach Ted Cummings said. "If there was a mercy rule, as in baseball and softball, we perhaps could have used it today."
Pasco had rare game victories throughout the match.
"Our top four singles players (Blake Rowley, Drew Swenson, Zack Anderson and Parker Postlewait) lost less that one game per match, which is pretty dominant in the sport," Cummings said. "Drew continues to lead the team with the best record in singles at eight wins, no losses, while Zack Anderson has six wins without a loss.
"Doubles specialist Doug Rowley is unbeaten this season in seven matches, as well," he said. "I don't believe the team has lost any momentum from last year's squad that compiled a 10-2 season record."
Wa-Hi has its work cut out on its return from spring break.
"The tough part of the schedule rears its ugly head later in April, as we play powerhouse programs from Richland on April 17, Moses Lake on April 19 and Wenatchee on April 21," Cummings said. "The first two of those matches are at home and we'd like to think that is an advantage."
The Blue Devils, now 5-0 on the season, next head to Eisenhower at 3 p.m. April 12.
