Bledsoe among Washington Hall of Fame class


TACOMA - The State of Washington Sports Hall of Fame has announced its class for 2012 led by former NFL quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe and Warren Moon.

The announcement of the class was made on Tuesday. Along with Bledsoe and Moon, the 2012 class includes horse racing jockey Russell Baze, Mercer Island High School basketball coach Ed Pepple, former Seattle Pacific soccer coach Cliff McCrath and late Seattle Rainiers owner Emil Sick.

Bledsoe was a high school standout in Walla Walla before becoming at star at Washington State. Moon led Washington to a Rose Bowl title and later in his career was the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. Pepple has been coach at Mercer Island for 42 years and has won 952 high school games in his coaching career. Baze is a graduate of Granger High and has the most wins of any jockey in history. McCrath won five national titles in 38 seasons at SPU and Sick purchased the Seattle Indians in 1937 and renamed the PCL team the Rainiers.
