WALLA WALLA -- Singers from Walla Walla High School's choirs showcased their talents recently during the Columbia Basin Community College Choir Festival.

Held on April 20, the festival drew choirs from across the northwest competing in several divisions.

The Walla Walla High School Chamber Singers and Treble Ensemble participated, and each earned superior ratings for their performances. Both groups were also selected by judges to perform in an evening concert, or honors showcase.

Treble ensemble received a first-place in the non-mixed division for the second year in a row, choir director Norbert Rossi noted. The group performed "My Johnny's a Soldier" during the honors showcase concert. Chamber singers performed "Esto les digo" by Kinley Lange and "Lebenslust" by Franz Schubert. The students were accompanied by Melissa Cadieux.

"Our students did an outstanding job at this festival," Rossi said in a news release. "Their hard work and dedication are indicative of the kind of people they are."
