Xplosion '00 rallies to Mill Creek Sportsplex title


WALLA WALLA - After being down 8-6 going into the seventh inning, the Walla Walla Xplosion '00 fastpitch team scored six runs in the final inning to claim the championship of the Mill Creek Sportsplex Invite, 12-8, on Sunday.

The Xplosion '00 finished the weekend with a 6-0 record and first place in the 12-and-under division.

On Saturday, the Xplosion began the tournament by defeating Northwest Wildfire-Comack, out of Cour D'Alene, 11-0. They then went on to defeat the Washington Mustangs, 13-1, Northwest Wildfire-Guidon, 8-0, and the Union County Lightning, 14-0.

On Sunday, the Xplosion opened the day by beating the Union County Lightning, 13-4, to earn their place in the championship game. In the championship game, the Xplosion faced Northwest Wildfire-Guidon and rallied for the tournament crown. Xplosion '00 players are Kamryn Coleman, Lauren Hoe, Faith Hoe, Teisha Payne, Maddy Thomas, Bow Maiden, Alison Skurski, Emma Case, Paris Orchard, Mikaela Forcum and Meghan Yenney. Coaches are Andy Coleman and Kaela Hoe.

The Xplosion are now 20-6 on the season and play their next tournament this weekend at the Spring Breeze Invite in Richland.
