WALLA WALLA - A large naked man causing a disturbance on North Division Street Wednesday morning turned "combative" when police arrived, according to Officer Tim Bennett, police spokesman.
The 6-foot, 4-inch, 220-pound man was reported by witnesses at 10:13 a.m., prompting police to detain him. The man was taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center for evaluation.
The 49-year-old man was then released by the Walla Walla County Human Services Crisis Response Team.
"We evaluate for the need for psychiatric hospitalization," said Celena Veverka, a designated mental health professional for Walla Walla County. "When we determine a person does not need psychiatric hospitalization, we no longer have the ability to hold them in ER."
