Strong pitching propels Weston-McEwen to sweep over Dufur, 7-3 and 7-1
ATHENA - Strong pitching propelled the Weston-McEwen TigerScots to 7-3 and 7-1 victories over Dufur here Saturday in Special District 6 baseball.
The TigerScots got a three-run homer from pitcher Dallas Reich in the opener. Also the starting pitcher for game one, Reich pitched five innings of one-hit ball, giving up two runs and walking six. Nick Lively got the save in two innings of work.
Elliot Salter pitched game two for six innings and Lively again relieved for the save. The pair combined for a one-hit shutout of Dufur.
"Elliot (Salter) threw a great game, he's a submariner and he squared them up," W-M coach TJ Haguewood said. "Getting solid pitching helps but we've got some guys playing quality defense as well."
The TigerScots (16-4 overall, 11-1 league) play at Stanfield in a doubleheader May 11 at 4 p.m.
